New CEO at Ahrend

Eugène Sterken

Eugène Sterken has been appointed CEO of Dutch professional furniture manufacturer, Royal Ahrend.

Starting the 1st of June of this year, Eugène Sterken will replace Joost van Meerbeeck, who will return to Ahrend’s main shareholder, HAL. The appointment is still subject to advice from Ahrend’s Works Council.

Eugène Sterken re-joined Ahrend in the position of Chief Commercial Officer in 2011, after having worked for Ahrend in several positions from 1992 until 2005. He joined Joost van Meerbeeck, who had been appointed CEO in 2011, after having been member of the Ahrend Supervisory Board for several years.

The position of CCO will not be re-filled so Ahrend’s Board will consist of four people. Maarten Cornelissen, Supply Chain Director, Rolf Verspuij, CFO and Jiri Kejval, Director of Ahrend’s Czech subsidiary, Techo, complete Ahrend’s Board of Directors.

After having reorganised the company and having executed several improvement programs in the past 18 months – resulting in a positive EBITDA of EUR 3 million on a turnover of EUR 213 million last year – the focus will now be on continuous operational improvement and autonomous growth, mainly abroad (Germany, Middle East, UK, Belgium and Central & Eastern Europe) and in new segments, such as education and healthcare.
