How could you not support knowing better?

I guess I had two defining moments in my life. The first one lasted 18 years which was the period I could almost singularly devote to studying. With the support of my family and friends I had an extremely good start in life.

The second was when I picked up the book ‚Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time‘ by Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin. It is story about how what seems to be a coincidence can lead to find one’s destiny and change the world as a result. Step by step, one school at a time. Because Greg Mortenson set out to build schools for girls in underdeveloped and remote regions in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The first school only cost 12,000 US Dollar but Greg Mortenson had a tough time raising the money. But his vision and mainly endurance have made it possible for thousands of underprivileged children to get access to education. And his efforts are mainly aimed at girls because ‚when you educate a boy, you educate a boy. When you educate a girl, you educate a community.‘

And I believe in education. How could I not? So much talent is wasted in this world because many people (children and adults alike) do not have the opportunity to get the education they would need to make a difference in this world. Everybody deserves a chance to know better. And this deserves all the support it can get.
