EFG shows intelligent desk technology and new products
Swedish professional furniture maker European Furniture Group – EFG (owned by Norwegian investment fund Herkules Capital) will introduce new products and ‘Intelligent Desk Technology’ at the Stockholm Furniture Fair.
“The desk was designed in cooperation with ROL Ergo, which developed iDrive and what is known as Intelligent Desk technology based on intuitive functions – a strong trend in office design right now,” explains Marcus Westdahl, President of EFG European Furniture Group.
This desk automatically adjusts to the user’s build and specific needs by communicating with the laptop, tablet or smartphone via a USB interface and LAN/WLAN. The technology is linked not only to the desk, it can also be applied to other features that together make up the intelligent office.
“Function is once again going to be in focus, but from an intuitive perspective with intelligent designs tailored to meet the individual’s need to feel motivated, productive and creative,” explains Marcus Westdahl.
“The intelligent desk registers how you use your workplace and will, for instance, remind you stand up and work every now and again in order to improve your posture and circulation. It also takes the environment and safety into consideration by switching off the lights if you leave them on by mistake, and it will put your computer in standby mode when you go home.”
EFG will also introduce the EFG ONE office chair – ‘one chair for everyone’.
The EFG ONE is a family of task chairs designed with two principles at the start: simplicity and flexibility.
“When we launched our new task chair project, it quickly became clear to us that the market lacked a family of chairs that met all the varied needs of the next-generation office. That realisation is what guided us in our development work. And now the result is here, the EFG ONE family of task chairs,” says KG Arvidsson, International Product Manager.
Another new product by EFG is the EFG Aura storage system.
EFG Aura is an answer to today’s increasingly activity-based office culture, in which people often work in a far smaller space than before, but with higher demands on organising the workplace.
“EFG Aura not only meets today’s market requirements for various types of storage, its personal space and general appearance show incredible attention to design detail. With their beautifully mitred corners and the interplay between light and shade in the door panels, EFG Aura is a fresh, modern interpretation of furniture needs for today’s office, conference room and reception area. It is with immense pride that I am unveiling EFG Aura, our very latest storage series,” says Linn Friestad, International Product Manager.
